The Great Believers by Rebecca Makkai

I loved I Have Some Questions For You by the same author so had high hopes for this book, but I never expected this. How could I have prepared myself for Yale and his friends? There is so much to say about this book but I don't want to give any spoilers. I just want you all to read it and then call me so we can talk and cry and read out lines to one another. Oh here's one, I can't help it;

“If we could just be on earth at the same place and same time as everyone we loved, if we could be born together and die together, it would be so simple. And it’s not. But listen: You two are on the planet at the same time. You’re in the same place now. That’s a miracle. I just want to say that.”

Yale and Fiona's stories unfold in incredibly moving and sometimes surprising ways, as both struggle to find goodness in the face of disaster.
